Local musician Mark "Fifty Horse" Broussard has finally arrived on the national music scene. Mark (shown above) sat in with world famous blues man Gatemouth Brown at the Four Corners Club in Holly Beach, Louisiana (a.k.a. the Cajun Riviera) last Saturday night. Fifty Horse played the coon ass didgeridoo, an instrument he developed himself after being inspired by Australian musician Paul Taylor who performed at the 5th annual Jet Bug Blowout held at Mouton Cove Jet Test Center. In an interview, Fifty Horse stated that after hearing the unique and lonesome sound of the original didgeridoo, he was prompted to develop the more portable and dispensable version. Appreciation for the coon ass version has been slow in coming, but now the instrument and musician have finally received the respect that they deserve. We will keep you updated on any future appearances by Fifty Horse and his coon ass didgeridoo. Associate Member 43694 Mike Stites, Harry Reems Athletic Club |
